Moonflower Vines, What do mature seed pods look like?

Hello friends.
This was our 1st year with nice moon flower vines and we love them. We can't remember what the seeds looked like when we planted them so we haven't a clue on when to harvest the seeds. Would Y'all please chime in and help us figure this 1 out? If mine will mature before it freezes, I should have plenty of extra seeds to go around;)

they will be greenpod type things that turn brown when mature. they for exactly where the moon flower was. once brown they are ready to pick.

I have had seed pods on the vine for quite a while and they still haven't turned brown. Can I get the seeds a bit before they turn brown? I'm getting worried that it is going to freeze and the vine will die before I can get the seeds. I really love this vine and want to plant it next year using these seeds. I can probably buy more but that just doesn't sound as fun as using seeds that I grew myself. :)

If you have seedpods that are almost mature and you think that the cold is going to turn them into mush before you can harvest them,you can cut some of the most mature looking pods from the vine,making sure that you leave some stem on them...place the stem in a vase like container of water in a sunny window...many of the pods will continue to ripen and you'll be able to harvest seeds that would otherwise be turned to mush...

RON I was thinking of trying exactly what you mentioned;). My wife and I were just now looking at them wondering how much vine to keep on them. I think that is an excellent idea.
Just pray that we don't have any more hard/freak freezes this soon.

JLD_II - Glad to hear of your intrepid experiment...I would suggest using most of the pod stem(pedicel and/or peduncle),or even a little bit more...
The picture links will hopefully give you a good idea as to what is almost ripe and the amount of stem to leave attached to place into the water...trim off any browning that may occur at the end of the stem,as it rests in the water...a nice sharp clean 'floral' cut...this will help to prevent any decay from spreading and to maximize water absorption...

I did a little experiment today and tested one of the pods. Much to my dismay the seeds inside were still soft. I think I shouldn't have to worry about a freeze for a bit but the vine is already not flowering much. Tonight there were only about 3 flowers, compared to the 30 last week when it was still warm. I might nab a few to put in water, inside just to be safe. Hopefully the rest will ripen faster now the vine is not putting energy into flower production.

Mine has quit flowering too. I think much of the foliage is showing signs of damage from cold or frost.
I too opened up a pod and found 4 white beans about the size of navy beans and they were all sticky like they were covered in sap. They should be close to mature I hope. I'll keep you all posted;)
