Can carrot seeds be sown in late fall in a northern climate for germination the following spring. I winter sowed (WS) a bunch of flower seed last year and it was incredibly successful. So I got to thinkin' why not carrot seeds, spinach seeds, etc.
Thoughts?
Winter sowing carrot seed
JefeQuicktech, it can't hurt to try! I also live in a northern clime, and i've been thinking about it. Since so many of my annuals self seed and germinate, why would this be any different? Also, since seed is so cheap, your investment is practically nothing. I'm going to try this weekend. I'll let you know how I fair.
Right you are! Seed is cheap. Having to buy carrots to go with my homemade V-8 style juice is not cheap. I don't have enough carrot supply when the tomatoes are ripe.
It seems I never get them in early enough and then the germination is poor. I am going to go for it also.
