It's the freaky Yellow Hairdo Dahlia

Issaquah, WA(Zone 7a)

Here is an unnamed Yellow FD generally 3-4 inches across 3 inches deep, very good grower and reliable bloomer/tubermaker. It's been one of my favorites over the years. But is has this odd tendency to throw out the occasional mutant which follow.

Last year the "Don King" look appeared on one blossom: No longer on file- have to send a link.

And this year, although I waited too long to photograph it, a little yellow mohawk appeared on one plant. Can't wait for next year's look!

Very strange!
Never have seen that before.

Look familiar Poochella?

Seems as though the gentic material holds true no matter where it grows.

oh oh 'premature balding on deeply lacerated scalp' might be the name for that version. There are a couple others with funny unsplit or double centers. I have a Spartacus that has petals only developed on one side. Last year I had a triple centered flower- just a little oddity that crops up here and there.
