tearing down a silo

petersburg, KY(Zone 6b)

does anyone here have any knowledge of tearing down a dairy farm silo? We are trying to find out what is the safest way to do this. We had one guy wanting to do it with a snorkel lift and a sledge hammer. some people told us not to do that because someone would end up killed. Call a demolition guy he was going to blow it up but decided never to call back. Now I had another guy come and look at and now he wants to do the lift and sledge hammer thing. I seriously don't want anyone to get hurt, I was wondering what is the safest way. Plus we have a kennal about 3foot away from it that houses our dogs, and a horse barn about 25ft away from it. here is a picture of the silo, sorry it's not closer.
thanks shelly
