I'm trying to start a small iris nursery here in UK and have already found a supplier in Canada for SDB's and I was wondering if anyone knows of a similar supplier based in USA who might be prepared to ship to UK if all expenses for necessary certificates are met. Any help or advice would be hugely appreciated. I've been growing on a small scale for many years but now have the opportunity to take it further and I'm anxious to do things well.
Looking forward to your replies...and thanks!
Terri
Can any other iris grower help me find....?
Terri,
This link will take you to the AIS website where you will find links to many commercial iris growers. I recommend you visit each site and check their shipping policies to see which ones ship internationally:

Bear in mind that shipping season is already finished for the year for most growers in the U.S.
Good luck in your new venture.

Hi Terri-
I'd also recommend you check the companies out at Garden Watchdog......a few sometimes have problems sending out misnamed iris. A disappointment to wait for a replacement the next year here in the states, but would be a rather expensive mistake for you.
Good luck-
Neil
Thank you Laurie and Neil for taking the time and trouble to reply to my question. I will be following up all the leads that you suggest.
Neil I absolutely agree 100% with what you say about misnamed irises. I have had that happen to me more times than I can remember and that is the reason why I always make sure that I have seen my irises in bloom and photographed them before passing on to other people. It's terribly disappointing when that happens and I wouldn't want it to happen to any customer of mine if I could help it.
Terri
You might want to d-mail John_benoot. He is in Belgium and orders both iris and daylilies from here.
But in the meantime,
Aitken's Salmon Creek Garden does
I believe that Bay View Gardens does. You have to buy their catalog. Their website isn't helpful.
Supersition does. Their photos are here. You have to write for the prices. Great.

Mid America does and will also send Keith Keppel cultivars overseas. You have to get Keith's catalog. He's not on-line
I know that Sutton's does but they usually close their site in the winter. They are very late in opening in the spring too.
I can't imagine that Schreiner's doesn't although I didn't see it in their catalog. If you buy over $80.00 of most iris then anything but new intros are half.
Cooley's Iris Garden does.
You can find links to all of these in the Watchdog. And I'm pretty sure that they won't be shipping overseas now. Some are still shipping to warm places.
Good luck with your new venture. I hope that it works out well.
None of the one's that I have mentioned should be sending you misnamed iris. If they do they'll replace them.
That should keep you busy this winter. :-)
And post photos so we can all enjoy your endeavor!

Oh, I forgot. Impressive Irises in Australia will arrange to send you iris and theirs are very special.
