Overwintering Container Grown Chocolate Cosmos - Help please

i just read in one of my books that you dig the tubers up and store the way you would dahlias. i don't know anything about dahlias, but maybe this helps. the chocolate cosmos is a perennial (i didn't know that), but they need to be brought in for cold zones. debi

According to the Sunset Garden Book (the garden bible for the West) the Chocolate Cosmos is hardy in Seattle. Your winters are really fairly mild. Your best bet is probably to put the cosmos in it's container in the garage for the winter and keep the soil just damp. A lady in Portland has it planted in the ground and covers hers with hay and waters about once every two weeks - if that will help. Best of luck. Dotti
