Tomatillo Question

I'm growing tomatillos for the first time. They are the purple kind. How does one determine when they are ready to pick? If they need to be picked early due to frost, will they ripen indoors like tomatoes?

They are usually ready to harvest when the husks split. And yes, they will ripen indoors.
