I found one of my water hyacinths on the bottom of my pond this morning. I retrieved it and sat it on top of the water only to have it sink to the bottom again. It looks like it has always looked, the roots are fuzzy, no growth, but then there hasn't been on either of my hyacinths for a while. Everything else that dies in the pond floats to the surface, so I don't know if it's dead or if there is some other problem.
Does anyone know what's going on?
Thanks,
Mardell
What does it mean?
The only reason I can think of is if there are not enough of the swollen 'bladder' parts to keep the plant afloat. When I remove the old decaying ones, my plants seem to float lop-sided till they grow new ones.
