Range Raising Guineas

Richmond, KY(Zone 6b)

I've been giving some serious thought to guinea hens.

However, I do not want to get involved with coops, and incubators, and all the things normally involved with poultry. What I have in mind is letting them range free, and maybe supplement with food as necessary. I've got mixed woods, brush, and open bottoms on the property.

My question is, has anybody done this? What problems am I likely to encounter? What is the practicality of this?

I'm not so much concerned with eggs, but will be harvesting the hens for meat.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
