Mutant Velvet Queen Sunflower

Anyone got any idea why my Velvet Queen did this? It there something wrong with it??

Woofens, this is a wild guess, but did you read about the echinacea mutants some of us have? I, er, don't know where they are, perennials maybe? Shoot, what the heck is happening in this world??

Yes I did and that was the first thing I though of when I saw this :( Its definately strange isn't it??

Woofens I have found Velvet queen and Earthwalker both to produce more mutant flowers than other sunflowers. Both are very similar in colour so maybe its something in the genetics. Honestly though your guess is as good as mine.
