please tell me, I'm worrying over nothing. I just bought my first jm and I planted it in the full sun, and in a in a windy spot. The guy at the nursery said it could handle both. Got home planted it read the tag, and it says some shade and wind protection. Confused and worried now
thanks shelly
my first JM "bloodgood"
Bloodgood is probbaly the toughest JM, next to Atropurpureum, an old precursor to Bloodgood, yet still available. I have a Bloodgood that gets full sun and quite windy and it does fine....my sun is not so strong as in NJ but our wind is much more. I don't think you will have any problems. Just keep it well watered during dry spells to reduce potential leaf-tip burn.
thanks todd, I will definately keep it watered. I used a tobacco stick for a stake, I haven't tied it up yet I think I will though. in the winter would I have to water? Just wondering
thanks for the info!!! much appreciated!!
shelly
You should not need to water in winter...if you lived on the prairies, then perhaps you should but then, JM don't grow there.
