Daphne 'Carol Mackie' losing its leaves

Crossville, TN(Zone 6b)

Is there anything wrong with it? The branches still appears to be 'green' but the leaves are falling off. It is about 2 feet tall. It looked rather shabby last summer but came through our winter looking healthy. Does this cultivar do this? Linda

I've noticed mine did some leaf-drop when over-dry and hot. Mine have come back after loosing most leaves - I think I forgot to water. Spray down the leaves in the evening and see if that makes a difference, soak the root-zone.

I talked to a nursery about this for my daphne ordoras too.
They said to fertilize them with like rhody or evergreen fert. I have done this and you wouldn't believe the difference. They must be heavy feeders then. The leaves are greening up and not falling off anymore.

I fertilize every Spring. It looks dead and the root system is loose. I grew it from a 4 inch plant to 2 feet in 2 years. I will replace with daylilies unless I get a good price for another one. Thanks for the info. Linda
