Wondering if anyone has suggestions about breaking down pine slash (we are thinning our forest) into size for compost heap? I know there are chipper/shredders. I can't make out what would be the best choice of those. And, I'd like to know if there are any other means that would be maybe less noisy and maybe cheaper?
Thanks

turn pine slash into compost?
You might check into hiring someone to come in with a very large one and do them all at once. In my experience, buying a chipper/shredder is expensive and you can't use it for logs, just the small stuff, 2 to 4 inches depending on what size you buy. They are also very loud and a lot of work trying to get what you can through it. Good luck!
Thanks for all your suggestions.
Still contemplating.
