Where i work we had the guys that shread up branches from the sides of the
roads drop there chips in a pile. today i went to look at them and seen steam
coming out of the top of the pile so i went to get my infrared thermometer
to see how hot the pile was getting.
Outside Temp low 70's-F 7am , overcast morning ...
6 inches inches down in the pile was 136-F
Thought i would post to give some specific temps.
the pile was like 6 foot tall , 8 foot around ..
Info .. Woodchip pile for heat source ..
If you have or make a bin outside and run some pipes through it and use a small fan to draw heat in to the greenhouse it works, --don't put the pile in the greenhouse it makes too much gas and makes tomatoes sick, [don't ask me how I know,-- LOL]
