Efficient Microbes?

Has anyone tried any of the products from this place? http://scdworld.com

The claims seem a little far out to me. But the ideas are intriguing.

I bought a bottle of EM from them. (I dont really know what the EM are but they smell like yeast to me). The transaction was smooth. The packaging was OK. The EM came with OK instructions and they were viable. I mostly followed some info on Bokashi composting that I got on the web at http://www.cityfarmer.org/bokashi.htm I used the EM and some bran to make the Bokashi composting starter. The composting only used up a little of the bottle of EM concentrate. I am really busy so I didnt have time to experiment with the rest of the concentrate. Seems as if there are a whole bunch of potential applications. Personally; I'm not sure about spreading unknown microbes all over my laundry and cutting boards etc. In the end, I diluted the left over and applied it to the garden figuring that it probably couldnt hurt (which it didnt). The Bokashi composting method seems to work. My plants are not complaining. We dont have any organic stuff in our garbage can anymore (which is a plus in the Florida summer).

Thanks for responding....I agree that those other applications seemed just too suspicious. I just may try the EM for garden use only.

I just purchased EM-1 from Whole Foods market. I watered my plants with it, and sprayed my roses. It's too soon to tell if there are benefits. I would love it people on this forum would share if they see benefits as we have more experience with the Effective Microorganisms.

Thanks.

Oh how I would love a Whole Foods in this area !!!

My first observation regarding EM: spraying diluted EM on my roses makes the leaves very shiny....I'm not complaining.

There is a magazine in the UK called Kitchen Garden and Andrew Seall has been doing an experiment comparing E.M. treated vegetables with untreated ones on his allotment. He began in February and has just finished the trial and says "I am convinced it has made a big difference - in fact .... the results were better than expected. The extra root growth on herbs, salad plants, potatoes, beans, courgettes, squashes, onions and tomatoes was fantastic" He finds that everything makes a bigger more fibrous root system with stronger healthier plants, heavier crops and greater resistance to or faster recovery from pest attacks. He says that it is easy to make and apply to the soil and that E.M. is harmless and clean. He gives www.gardenyogurt.co.uk as the source of information on this product. After reading his articles I must say I am tempted to give it a try.
