Easiest, Somewhat Drought Tolerant, Hardy Hydrangea

Clovis, NM(Zone 7a)

I am in Zone 6B, 7A and would like to plant some Hydrangea's for my mom.

These will be in the backyard of the house, so we are protected by the house and fence somewhat. We have three fairly large Honey Locust trees that give shade to the area. I would like to plant these either on the North wall or East Wall, Which would usually be better?

To explain my climate, we have hot summers (85-100+) and somewhat cold winters. We also do not recieve much rainfall, have almost no humidity, and very strong dry winds.

I understand they will take some care but which cultivator is easy to grow and can withstand my type of climate? Or would it be too difficult to grow hydrangeas in my area?

Thanks!

Try 'Glowing Embers' or 'peziosa' lacecap 'Blue Billows' and endless summer or penny mac which bloom on new wood so if you lose the buds you will still have blooms.

That is good to know. Thanks for that info.

Does anybody know anything about 'Nikko Blue'. I went to a couple of Nurseries today and that was the only cultivator I could find. Is it pretty easy to grow?

Thanks,

Yes it is one of the "classics"
