Starting a Farm

Does anyone have any suggestions? We've been researching it for about a year and would like to hear some first hand accounts. No. . . we don't have land yet but are looking. We've also been researching everything from crops to livestock. The only thing we've found out is that we need to do more. LOL. We're happy we didn't take the leap yet due to the drought we've been having this year. (God Bless and watch over you all who've been struggling with it.) It's also harder due to the fact that we are in mid-swing in our lives and not 'just starting out'. In other words we already have the kids, dog, and morgage. So. . . we are risking some with a life change but figure we're gaining too. We just don't want to 'loose the farm' in our quest to gain a lifestyle. So. . . anyone leave the suburban life for a rural one? And how'd it go so far?
