suggestions for tree in texas

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

I'm looking for chartreuse/gold coloring most of the year. I saw one at a business near my home, went inside the establishment to ask about it and all I got were blank stares. Looks like some kind of maple (not japanese) , pyramid shaped. thanks

It doesn't HAVE to be a maple, just interested in coloring and that it will do well in zone9a.

Hi Vossner,

You could probably try a Tabebuia chrysotricha (Golden Trumpet Tree) or Tecoma (http://www.yuccado.com/displayone.php?ytitle=Tecoma%20stans%20%27Sunrise%27)

Did you mean chartreuse/gold foliage or flower?

foliage. at this time looking for a tree, not a shrub. Tecoma you recommend is beautiful but grows only to 5'.

How'z about a Robinia pseudoacacia 'Frisia' - golden foliage or Gleditsia triacanthos var inermis 'Sunburst'. Both have golden foliage and are both heat/drought tolerant. I've noticed one of these recently that seems to remain golden through most of the summer but I didn't take a closer look. Hope these suggestions help.
