I would like to have my clematis climb on a split rail fence......does anyone have any suggestions on how to get them to stay on the rails? I was thinking about the netting trellis and wondered if anyone had any ideas as to the good and bad behind using this. Also anyone have a good source for buying it? Thanks you great people for any help...Janetlee50
Trellies for clematis?
I've seen the products 'trellinet' and 'trellis plus' advertised in Johnny's Selected Seeds catalog. Web: Johnnyseeds.com I'm also interested in how well it works for vining plants as I've never tried it.
It all depends on the clematis. Some simply refuse to use the mesh netting for birds that I attached to the picket fence while others use it quite nicely. Pink Champagne & Tateshina look heavenly on the fence.
Haven't tried growing one on a split rail fence though! Maybe #76 will go there?
