purple veins in leaves?

Ladson, SC(Zone 8b)

Hi guys, I planted moonvine seeds and they are coming along pretty good, but the leaves are not as dark green as I think they should be and they are starting to get purple veins running through them. What can I do? I have them planted in a huge container, on each side of a pergola going over a swing. The main plant in these pots is Yellow Jasmine which is doing okay. I am assuming that I am lacking some nutrient? Please let me know what you guys think, I have really been looking forward to enjoying my MOONVINE!!! lol......Thanks in advance

I think it is an iron deficency. I use a product called soil sulfur (just little chips of sulfer) to make my soil more acidic because that allows the iron in the soil to be taken up easier by the plant. Good luck,

Lindsey :)

A defficiency usually makes the veins yellow, not purple...

Purple veining is unusual for moonflowers. Most "purple veins" mean that there is a high degree of purple pigment. In other words it could usually signal that you are growing a deep purple blooming fower...

It will be interesting to see what the blooms look like!
