How to add a new variety to an existing species?

I was at Plant Delights Nursery today and took some pictures. One plant that caught my eye is Gentiana septemfida var. lagodechiana (unfortunately they do not have this one for sale!) PlantFiles has an entry for the species Gentiana septemfida http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/49899/index.html but not specifically for var. lagodechiana. What is the best way for me to add this picture so that I don't create a mess?

We create seperate entries for varietas (var.), subspecies (subsp.) and forma (f.). For your plant it would be written in the PF as follows

Common Name: Lagodekhi Crested Gentian
Family: Gentianaceae
Genus: Gentiana
Species: septemfida var. lagodechiana

I've found two synonyms for the plant too if you'd like to add them to the new entry, these are

Gentiana lagodechiana
Gentiana x hascombensis

Thanks, Baa. I added the entry as you described... but I had a problem with entering the synonyms. Apparently I should have entered only "lagodechiana" in the second field, so now the synonym reads "Gentiana Gentiana lagodechiana" which looks a little silly. And, once I added the first synonym, I could not find any way to correct it or add another synonym. The link for "Your actions / Edit this entry" does not help. Is there any way to edit synonyms?

If synonyms need editing, please let us know in the help desk, I've done this one for you and added the secnd.

We'll have to ask Dave or Terry if it's possible to add more than one synonym after the entry has been set.

Only editors can edit synonyms, but you can add more than one synonym. You may need to click on "switch to live view" to see the "add a synonym" link, but it will appear and allow you to add up to five synonyms.
