Planting Petunias

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

Just finished the first installment of petunia planting.
I plant all the leftovers from our garden center operation. I hate to see them die, so I plant them.
I did 382 plants today. I hope to finish Wed. Probably a 1000 or so left.
I am putting them in 3 rows across my vegetable garden. It is the strip below the watershed strip.
It is about 300 feet long.
I will add a picture later.
Also planting Impatiens & other shade stuff under our big old Ash tree by the garage. I have well over 100 in so far.
I would be farther along, but, sore back.LOL!

Sounds beautiful,Bernie. I would do the same, I can't see them perfectly good plants just dying. Look forward to a picture. What kinds of petunias? did you plant seeds or plugs this spring?

All seed. There were 13 different colors. Mostly Dreams, a couple of Celebritys.
I have some doubles left too. They will go in my flower garden.

Have you heard of the Madness series of petunias? I just love em. They are a little smaller bloom and have wonderful dark veining.

Is your seed pelleted? Do you start on heating cable? How hard are petunias? Do you sow in a large flat and then prick out? Nosy, aren't I ? I am just curious as I have wanted to try petunias but am hesitant cause I hear the seed is really tiny.
