Pecan Tree Sticky stuff....Help

Ocean Springs, MS(Zone 9a)

I'm fairly new to DG and have what I feel is a severe problem. I have pecan trees everywhere in my yard and now, with the hot, dry weather, I have this sticky, gooey stuff everywhere.

Is there anything I can do to preferably get rid of it or at the very least lessen the amount that is dropping everywhere?

My parents had pecan trees, but, I don't remember all this sticky stuff.

Help please!!!!

Look for aphids on the leaves. They are usually responsible for the sticky honeydew.

OK...How do I get rid of them?

Texas A & M University has The Plant Answer Man who says that spraying is impractical, expensive, and scares the neighbors. The problem being the heigth of the trees and lack of equipment by the homeowner. Clemson Univerity advices use of a high pressure hose sprayer to wash off the leaves going as high as possible repeating twice a week. They recommend using an insecticidal soap saying that using an insecticide may make things worse because you could be killing good insects as well. Hope this helps.
