This was a volunteer grey-striped mammoth that popped up in April. I can't believe how large it is considering the rains are just now ending. My sunflowers reached around 9 ft last year so I wonder if this guy will get even larger. After the wind knocked a few down last summer, I put in a 9ft stake to support it.
Very large sunflower
That is too cool! We keep trying to plant a sunflower forest but the stupid mice keep digging up the seed and eating them. So we started over and put cups around them.

Darn mice! I hope they leave them alone this time. What kind of sunflowers are you growing?
