ZigZag Spider

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

I've been watching this guy for a couple weeks now. Tried to take pictures before, but my close-ups are nothing to write home about. Today I went out to take a look around and the pattern on this web caught my attention. He is doing a zig zag stitch.

I don't know what kind of spider this is, good, bad or indifferent. I thought he was very interesting with his weave and after about 50 shots, I finally got some semblance of clarity.

Any thoughts?

All spiders are considered to be good as they eat bugs :)
Nice shot Btw.

Milan,

Thank you for that site. I learned a couple things over there. And thanks for the compliment on my photo.

Wow, I've never seen a spider do something like that. Pretty talented little guy!

I found 2 more of these spinning webs over my sweet potato vines. If they are bug eaters, then they are sitting fat and happy back there. I have a gazillion gnats swarming the yard for the rotting mangos.

I am I am cleaning up the mangos twice every day, so hard to keep up. I'll be so glad when that tree stops dumping them down.

Giorio,

Thank you for posting that link. Those were fantastic pictures and the members contributions of information was great. I really enjoyed it.

Now I am not afraid of 2 kinds of spiders. This is the other one. I call it a crab spider, but I'm sure it's not the name. Painting exterior houses, I knock these webs down all the time, the next day, the web is back up again and spider is there.
