I have 2 clematis viticella 'Polish Spirit' that have been in large containers for several years and have done wonderfully well climbing my porch post with the help of fencing wire. I'm sure they're pot bound and in need of dividing. Has anyone done this and if so, when do you do it? I'm thinking late winter while they're still dormant and when I prune them?
