YIKES! A lesson for us all.

Deer River, MN(Zone 3b)

Today I have a bunch of new-to-me bloomers showing me their faces for the first time, and I am suddenly reminded of something I should have been doing all bloom season - checking blooms against AIS registration descriptions!!! Since I get so many of my irises in trades these days, and since even the commercial growers are vulnerable to sending out mislabeled plants from time to time, it really is essential to double check every new iris that blooms to make sure they are who they're supposed to be! Today, I have *at least* two mislabeled newbies. I haven't checked the others. Nor did I remember to check any of the other new-to-me this year irises I've been posting to all my threads. YIKES!!!

I will go through them over the next few days and make sure I didn't post any obviously inaccurately IDed irises here. If I did, I'll make corrections. If anyone catches any questionable ones in the meantime, please SPEAK UP!

Just a reminder to us all ...

Laurie, I know I am a dummy but exactly where is that database?

Deer River, MN(Zone 3b)

The AIS online databases are an ongoing project that is not yet complete, but it does include registration data (including descriptions but no photos) for all irises registered between the years 1960-1999. There is a small access fee if you want to use the searchable databases (WELL WORTH the minor cost), but you can also download databases free for the years 1960-1989. You can find it here:

http://www.irisregister.com/

If you want access to registration data for ALL irises EVER registered with the AIS, you can purchase the decade Check Lists and annual Registration & Introduction booklets from the AIS Storefront here:

I guess nobody has to be a mind reader to know Laurie likes irises.
