Little water accent

I picked this up last fall, and just drug it out and put it together. I love it, but it needs something. I don't think I can put water plants in it, because of the dirt? I don't have access to water plants anyway.

So, what would you do to decorate this up a bit?

The picture isn't the best because it's almost dark out.
