Is that a brugmansia? My stems do that sometimes - usually after one has been ripped off. It never seems to hurt the plant.

Gee, that photo is worse than I thought. The little brown squares are lined up on the stem.

If that is a brugmansia, why don't you post the pic on that forum? Monika or one of the others might have an answer for you.

Yup Karrie, it's on my Maya.
Sure it isn't eggs or something?

Did you try washing it off with insecticidal soap?

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Sorry, couldn't get back on for awhile. Didn't wash off, didn't brush off, did scrape off with my fingernail. It's crunchy outside and just a little gooey on the inside. (Yum, anyone wanna try one?)

Did get a better pic tho. It also looks like it made a channel into the stem.

ewwwww! now I see it! heavens - wash it off! And maybe take some Neem to it. You should post this in the brug forum. I've never seen anything like that! Looks like rabbit poop almost but I'm sure it is some kind of egg or larve.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

is this one of the "field test" mayas?

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Oh just flick em off LOL, it'll be fun! Seriously, it looks like poo from some type of catapillar. I have some of those on my squash leaves. The only thing is if it is....you got one that is very neat and organized!!@!@!@

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

I'd say a line of eggs, especially how they're adhered to the stem.

Otherwise that bug must be obsessive compulsive to keep coming back, lining up and laying another brick.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

LOL!

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

LOL I concur!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

it is very strange looking, isn't it!

It looks like someone cut up miniture tootsie rolls and laid them out for you. LOL, but I'm not tasting them for you.

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

maybe you could save one in a jar and see what it hatches into.

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

How about I send YOU one to raise Karrie, LOL!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

lol

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

It would die in transit whatever it is LOLOL

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Unless Mary wants these tootsie rolls...speak up Mary.

What if it's a good bug?

Sure hope NightBloom gets back here soon.

Griffin, GA(Zone 8a)

NightBloom wishes that she could be of help, but she's pretty bad at identifying eggs. My garden insects book is at work too, but if I come across anything, I'll let you know.
