Brown flowers/buds

Hi All,

Hoping you can help. What is wrong with the peony plant when the buds come, start to open, but don't quite get there and then start to turn brown before ever opening? Hope that makes sense. This is someone else's plant with tons of buds on it. Looks like a Sarah B to me.

hi, kim. since i'm a novice gardener, i'll take the wild guess route ;-). too much fertilizer? some kind of insect? one of my peonies became insect snack, and i was left with a half-eaten bud. some buds turned brown and fell.

i hope someone in the know sees this.

Google Bud blast and see if that could be your problem.

Hmmm, don't think so. They didn't fall off or not open. They started to open got about half way and then brown. Maybe the heat did them in? I am going to see this plant tomorrow so maybe it was an early flowering fluke.
