Shade plants for hummingbirds

St. Louis, MO(Zone 5b)

Hello;

Any suggestions for plants or shrubs that attract hummingbirds or butterflies in dappled to full shade? I'm planting impatiens and hostas, and would love to hear of anything else you've had success with.

Thanks,

Maureen

They love my abutilon. :~)

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Perennial cardinal flower, better in part shade, not deep shade. It does like regular water!

Corpus Christi, TX(Zone 9a)

Down here Salvia coccinea has naturalized under some trees. The hummers love the ones growing under the Pineapple Guava when the tree is blooming at the same time as the salvia.

Thanks all! This is great--lots of choices.

Levilyla,
Are you talking about the wiegelia shrub? It's good to know they will take some shade, I didn't know that.

Thanks again all,

foxgloves (will need a little sun, but mostly shade should be ok), dicentra, most lupines will take a good amount of shade.

Might have helped if I'd turned the picture right side up. This must be a sign that I shouldn't be posting at 5am.
