I planted some cinnamon ferns last year which did not come back this year.. I thought the winter weather may have gotton to them.
This weekend, I dug a hole to plant an azalea, and guess what. 3-4" below soil level, two cinnamon ferns were trying to send up shots. I have no clue why they ended up so deeply burried, but maybe I accidently covered them last year when I planted lily bulbs in the same bed.
I replanted them at soil level yesterday.
Isn't it amazing that deeply burried ferns are still able to sprout ??
I would definitely not hestitate to buy more ferns..
Incredible hardy ferns

Lucky you! I went to look for some netted chain ferns that I had planted last year and while I was rooting around in the soil looking for any signs of life, I found a tick crawling up my arm. I would have much preferred to have found nice fronds but I guess it just wasn't my day.
