Am I a Datura

Ocean Springs, MS(Zone 9a)

I bought this plant at a flea market last weekend. The man told me it was an Angel Trumpet (so I'm thinking..Brugmansia) Never had either one so didn't know what they were.

Anyway, I had this bloom this morning. Could anyone tell me what I have?

GM Dee, yes you have a Datura there. You'll be very pleased with it. They love the heat and sun (with plenty of water) and will bloom for you all summer. You can also collect the seeds and plant them for next year. Enjoy!!!

dbibb,
She is a datura, and a beautiful one.

Be sure to save the seeds, pod will form after the boom dies, it will be prickly, put the end of a nylon hose over it and secure it firmly to catch the seeds when the pod pops open It will take a couple of weeks.

Be sure to post more pictures.

I see a tripple purple datura Metel. The seed pods will be smooth with little bumps on it. [ I cant spell]-- Michael

Dbibb, the blooms go up on datura and straight down on Angel Trumpets.

I am trying a new triple yellow and purple from seeds. Should they bloom before fall?

Bluegrass from all I have read, yes they should bloom!!! I personally don't have experience, but I will after this summer.
