Ok I missed this one but could someone explain to this DG newbie what a co-op is as I've seen this term used in many other forums and feel like I don't get it. Just figured it be safer to ask here where "home" is at DG. Irises are my true love.

A co-op is a group purchase. Some brave soul organizes it and a bunch of people order. The product usually gets shipped to the organizer who repacks and ships to those who ordered.

So, how does that benefit anyone? Seems to me you have extra shipping charges. Or is it done by organizer to receive wholesale pricing and/or the bonus iris/plants?

generally it saves money due to discount for large orders. Some times it makes available hard to find plants or seeds. Sometimes it's about spitting a handling fee, or meeting a minimum . . .
