This is the only bloom from this iris this year. Planted last year. Rained for 24 hours so washed out purple.
It this just an anomaly?

Yes, but it's a fairly common anomaly among SDB and more rarely among the other bearded classes, as well. I always assume extra or missing parts are weather-related. In a mature clump, you may get a few blooms with extra or missing parts while others open with the perfect 3 and 3.
