I am ready for one---always has been fun in the past. :)
Cannas not on my wish list Jan............la la la la la la la.....Okay, now to see how many are interested. We'll need to set a cut off date of June 15th and have all plants mailed by June 30th. Each trade should have a minimum of 5 nice sized, different plants. Post your wishes with your name....ya just might get lucky and get some of them.
I don't do houseplants, but would love any hardy annual or perennial that would thrive in Texas, hot, drought tolerate........I think we're in for a scorcher this summer. Wishes:

I'm in - I LOVE SECRET TRADES!!! Most of the fun for me is just getting the box, it's like getting a present!
I'll post my wish list as soon as I figure it out.
critter - This is a secret trade. The host will give you the random name of a trader and you check their list here and see if you can send them something from the list or just something you think they will like that will grow in their area.
In return, whomever draws your name will try to send you plants on your list or what they think you might like.
All plants have to be sent priority mail in a box, no bubble envelopes. The host will specify the minimum number of plants that everyone must send but you can always send more depending on how much you want to spend on postage.

Oh! That does sound like fun! Problem is, my selection of plants to send is limited, so I don't know that I could sufficiently fulfill one person's wish list if it's a random thing. So, I'd better sit this one out until I have a wider selection to pick from! Thanks for the explanation.

Critter..............nonsense!! The idea is a sacred sharing of our garden's bounty......it's nice if you have something on someone's wish list, but the best part is the surprise and the sharing!! Heck, a lot of our favorite plants are ones we never thought of getting for ourselves that we received in a secret trade..........I've even been known to go to a nursery to pick up a sale plant or two.....come on and join us. Does 3 plants per trade sound do able for everyone??

I got burned on the last one I was in but I will try again
to the people who are concerned not having about stuff on the wish list
some times you can go to the local store and buy what they'd like (you don't have to get EVERTHING on the list)or
you can trade what you have to someone else for what your assigned trader would like(explain to that person what you are doing,sometimes they will send it directly)
some people have sent candles and other stuff,gloves,tags,along with one or 2 of the plants on the wish list (but get your minimum 5 plants in there)
I got one secret trade that had NOTHING on my wish list but it was all stuff I loved.....and was happy to receive
look at it as what would YOU like to receive
go to the store and buy 5 good size plants
divide them in half
you keep half
and send the other half
you got plants you love and so will your trader
Its a way to justify your addiction

I'm new at this, but I'd like to try to get in, if it's not too late. Does the host do the match-ups? or is it random? It might be difficult for me to find things for a colder zone in my area. I am sooo easy. Basically, I want anything that will grow in my zone outdoors, well, except maybe veggies (but like I said, I'm easy). Although I have mostly pastels in my flower garden, I'm open-minded. Just let me know what to do next!

I am interested....but have a question....
The matching is random.....how do people handle it if they are matched w/ someone in a very different zone? I see some other comments from warmer climate gardeners that don't have colder climate plants. Its the same for me in reverse. I'd want to share things from my garden instead of going out to buy new plants.....and warmer climate plants are not found in our greenhouses anyway.
Please help me with this........if I participate, I'd want to do a good job!

Okay, we'll do a 3 plant minimum, and what I try to do is match everyone up to someone in their own zones for two reasons. 1) You are most likely to get something that will thrive in your zone, and 2) your secret trader is likely to have more of your wish items.
