Kathy, welcome!

A good place to start is with this thread. There are links to about all of the Iris websites.

Iris City Gardens is the only place I know that carries all the non-bearded and some bearded, but don't stop there!

Happy viewing.

Let us know how it goes.

There are TONS of iris pics in the PlantFiles database here at Daves. Just click the PlantFiles tab at the top of the page.

thanks, I have a few dwarves I want to look up

In addition to the PlantFiles database, you can find pics of many irises in the archives of the iris-photos mailing list. You can access the search engine for the list archives at:

http://www.hort.net/lists/iris-photos/search.cgi

You can also find iris pics through a Google search. There are two Google engines that you will find useful. The first one is the Google Image Search. The other is the Google Web Search. The Image Search will return only pictures, while the Web Search will return all sites with information and/or pictures relative to the search term. Since not all pictures are indexed with the Image Search, you'll be likely to find a lot more of the pics you're looking for through the Web Search, but it'll take a lot longer to hunt through all the sites to find them.

http://images.google.com/ - Google Image Search

When searching for a particular iris cultivar through Google, type in your search terms thusly:

"Irish Chant" iris

Happy hunting,

yep she is, I have no trouble finding pictures of tall bearded iris, but I can't find anypics on dwarves. which is what i'm looking for, tazzy sent me some links, and I found some dwarves on one of them, haven't had a chance to check them all out yet.

Deer River, MN(Zone 3b)

kathy_ann, if you post the names of the cvs you're looking for, I'll let you know if I run across pics of any of them.

Stanford, CA(Zone 9b)

Superstition's website has a lot of photos of dwarves. I don't know if they'll have what you're looking for but if you're looking for photos, it's a great website. To order you have to get their catalog.

One trick to finding what you want is to use quote marks around the name - Like in using the following in google:
iris "sky ray"
but note the Did you mean: iris "skyray"

Happy Searching

Here's an essential tip in locating iris info and pics. You MUST have the correct spelling of the iris name. A search won't do you any good if you're searching for the wrong thing. There's an easy way to confirm the correct spelling of registered iris names, as well as accessing full AIS registration information for all non-bulbous irises registered between 1960-1999. Pay the nominal fee for access to the AIS online registration databases at:

http://www.irisregister.com/

Through these databases, you can run unlimited searches on iris names, verify correct spellings, and acquire information on irises including description, class/type, height, bloom period, awards, hybridizer, year of registration/introduction, etc. The search functions are invaluable for anyone with an interest in acquiring this sort of information on the irises they grow or want to grow.

Believe me, once you know the correct spellings of your irises' names, it'll be MUCH easier to locate their pics online!

Laurie

P.S. You can find pics of Crystal Ruffles and Michael Paul in the PlantFiles here at Daves. I uploaded them last year!

Deer River, MN(Zone 3b)

Starbaby, Forfun, and Reminiscence are all in the PlantFiles, too. (spelling!!!)

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

My favorite pastime is gazing at iris photos right now as my IBs & TBs start to open....
