Japanese Iris
How do I plant them and do they need acid soil.
I think I read that somewhere.
Sould I plant them in a pot,but how do I over winter it if I do?

Need help!!!!
Japanese irises should be planted with the rhizomes 1-3" deep in acid soil, well amended with organic material. Mulch well and water generously, keeping the soil consistently moist at all times for the first year of growth. There are conflicting reports of JIs poisoning their soil after several years. Although that is not a universally accepted theory, it is known that JIs will start to suffer after several years in the same spot. That's why some folks prefer to grow them in large pots. It's easier to replace the soil in pots every few years than it is to replace garden soil or move JIs from one bed to another.
Potted JIs can be buried up to the rims for the winter.

P.S. Lime will kill JIs, so do NOT plant in limed garden beds.
