Hibiscus syriacus with a yellow bloom?

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Hello all,

First, yes, it is positively a Hibiscus syriacus. I think. :-)

Here goes the interesting part. I've been busy the past two days and
just this evening found the remains of a bloom on my Rose of Sharon.
A yellow bloom. Not light green, not dingy white. Yellow.

Now oddly enough, last summer they bloomed just fine. They are Red Heart
Rose of Sharon, all three of them. But this thing that bloomed was
actually on a stem growing out of the Rose of Sharon plant next
to the pond.

Have I lost my mind? (forget that one, LOL)
Am I growing an oddity?
Is it trying to revert back to it's parentage and got confused in the color wheel?

This is odd. Could anyone provide any information on such?
My apologies for the late evening grainy photo.

Many thanks,
Karen

Here is a better picture of it so you can see that I'm
not crazy. At first I thought it was a yellow Columbine
sticking through the ROS, but nope, it's growing out
of the ROS.

Wow...save that branch (mark it) and start a new plant hybred. You could have the start of something GREAT.
