geraniums

Woonsocket, RI(Zone 6b)

I tried growing some geraniums from seed but after 6 weeks they are just breaking through the soil. It has been avery cold spring here in zone 6b.
I bought some at Lowe's. The are blooming but are still quite small. Does anyone have information on improving their growth?

Jordung,
I started geraniums in our work greenhouse the first part of March from seeds, Lilly Miller. They took a very long time to germinated. I have seedlings now, some have 5-8 leaves on them and I finally put some in the garden beds the past couple weeks. Had to replant more seeds becaue not all came up.
Just wait and see, they do like more heat.

When you say "geranium" do you mean pelargonium (pom-pom type flowers on plants with zoned foliage) or are you talking about the perennial "Geranium spp." (cranesbill).

If pelargonium (the annual - typically with red pom-pom flowers) they grow best in warm soil (65F and warmer). They will put out very little growth initially. Once soil start to warm, they should grow and flower fast.

Thanks!
