I have tomato seedlings in my home & it is still too cold to put them out. For the last two weeks, they have been exposed to fumes from sanding, refinishing floor products, and paint. They don't look as perky as they were, but certainly not dying.
My wonder is - would the fruit produced by these plants carry some toxins in them. Perhaps I am being paranoid, but the thought just occurred to me.
I hope I don't have to toss them.
Thanks.
fumes and vegetable plants
Hydrange - I have no idea about the quality of the fruit, but I'm wondering if the leaves may have a film of dust on them that's keeping them from breathing which might account for the sickly look. Margaret
Thanks Margaret, I'll try spraying them - hopefully, they will perk up.
Sounds like our home... One project after another... I think you will be fine but just out of curiousity... How large are they?
Drew
Drew,
The seedlings are about 3 - 4 inches tall. I had given some to my daughter before all this work in the house started, and hers are doing great. She always attests to a brown thumb. But this time she is winning out.
