deformed battiscombii

is this a deformed bud, it's the first one to bloom on this batiscombii, others to bloom soon, more buds, not open yet. but this is suppose to be battiscombii, wondering what's going on here.

my T. Grandiflora "Blue Sky" does the same thing. Last year & this year, the first bud to open is all weird & deformed. I will be interested to see if anyone else has this happen. Maybe it is a Thunbergia oddity. :~)

Looks like a bug/insect munched on the tender tip of the flower... I've had that happen before...

if its not a product of an insect munching, that's pretty cool.

It might be, can't really tell, I have another one starting to bloom out so we'll tell for sure soon enough

second bloom, looks a tad better, but it's still kind of deformed on the bottom petal, I think it will get better with age, there are about l0 buds on it, so I'm watching it, I've been waiting patiently for buds on this thing.
