Do I buy all new.....

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

My husband FINALLY let me buy a new frame to extend my GH
The old one and the new one are those portable Garages they sell with the plastic canopies
They are both 10 X 20 so I will have a total of 10 X 40
Its 13 foot in the middle peak
My question is...
The plastic I have now is still in OK shape
a few small tears or cuts
(from shoveling snow away when it gets too deep)
and the cats figured out that those windows open automaticly and climb the door and jump in thinking its a way into the house
But I put it up in 2002
Now I'm not sure how long UV plastic lasts
Should I remove the plastic from the original and buy all new to cover the whole thing
or do I buy the new for the new one only and tie them together somehow?

My concern is if the old stuff goes bad in say a year or two I would have to take the whole thing apart to put new plastic on since the new GH addition will be butted up to it
plus I have to double it because of the insualting factor,I have a fan that expands the 2 layres
not sure how I will get the fan to expand the new covering

So I guess what I'm asking is how long can I reasonably expect a 6 mil UV pastic to last in my zone 5 ?

I would make a connection & put the new on the new only. If they are the same size, it should be easy to rig something to hold them tight together.
You can get a jumper hose to get the air to the new one. Where you got the fan should have them.
We have one house that has plastic that must be 7 or 8 years old.
We use the 6 mil, 4 year plastic.
Bet you will really like the extra room !
