Went to the local arboretum's spring sale today and got the flava variety of this vine to put up against the ugly concrete wall at the far end of my property. The volunteer didn't tell me how many people seem to hate this thing. It DOES attach to the wall, right? I would like to contain it as much as possible. Can I treat it like a bamboo and make an underground barrier? If so, how deep do I need to go?
Containing trumpet creeper vine?
It does attach to the wall, yes, but would not recommend you plant it in the ground, even with a barrier. They'll eventually find a way out of a barrier. A large pot is much safer.
I've seen it go three stories up a wall in just a 25 gallon pot...
I've spent the last 6 years trying to erradicate my mistake of planting this stuff, before I knew how invasive and hard to kill it was...
PLEASE use a pot...
