Hey Robin...Thanks for the links! The Fern Sink Farm was only 50 miles from me when I lived in Florida...but I wasn't "into" gourds then...but when I go back to visit this fall...you bet I'll check it out.

Here is one in our area:

Oh! Thanks for that link, roadrunner; wonderful Gourds there and cheap enough too.

Actually I may find a cheaper market for some gourds next week...when I go to a Gourd Society meeting...I know the girl that invited me sells (when she has them) the BIG basket gourds for about $6.00...and that is cheaper than the $15.00 I've seen them for before. Jo

Jo,

Are they nice and thick skinned?

I really don't know as I have never looked at one she had opened...Jo

Jo, I got a lot of dried gourds (various kinds) at a gourd farm just outside of Augusta, GA. Cheap, but you had to pick carefully as many had soft spots in their sides that collapsed when trying to clean them. I still have about 6 garbage bags full of cleaned gourds for whenever I get a working space again (and my stuff out of storage).

Sounds like you are all set, Darius. My DD and I have found that some of the prettiest, most interesting art work has come from "deformed" gourds. Just let your imagination run amok. Jo

Just got back to this thread. I must not have "watched" it. Jo, I like deformed gourds, just NOT ones with soft spots that collapse.

I brought back some of my dried and cleaned (outside only) gourds from storage and found a couple who's sides had collapsed. Sigh.

Nice sites, I love the finished gourds. I have no imagination at all, so I have to get my son to decorate some. (Once I get a harvest that someone does not feel the need to steal)

My son is very artistic, & does tattoos, I'm sure he can create something nice.

WOOHOO He should do great work...wish he was here...I still have some gourds. Jo
