Anyone growing poblano chilis?

Silver City, NM(Zone 7b)

I'm a NM native living in the NC mtns, and oh, how I miss that NM food!! I found some poblano plants at Lowe's, but no anaheim. Are the poblanos pretty similar to the anaheim? (Been gone so long I forgot). Tried the anaheim last year from seed, but they never got going, although everything else in my garden did quite well.

Thanks for any help someone might have!

I love NM chiles, too. Nothing beats green chiles. Poblanos are quite good - not exactly like anaheim, but you can use them the same way (chile rellenos, grilled and topping burgers, posole). I have found that they are a little spicier than anaheims - but that is comparing the two grown in my garden. They are also shorter than anaheims. Definately try them out - it would be hard not to like them... but nothing replaces good anaheims!

This is my first year to grow Ancho Poblanos. I have never grown Anaheim.

Great links Farmer Dill!

gardn, I just found out yesterday, they have added a Pepper Forum! Just change your preferences to add it. You could get more feedback there...

Thanks to you all!!! The links and the Pepper Forum helped a lot!
Let me know if you all are growing any of these and how they're doing.
As cool and wet as it is here, I won't bet the farm on my own success with them.
