droopy gayfeathers

North Wales, PA(Zone 6a)

Hi Gang,

Just potted up a large gayfeathers yesterday...separated roots very well, watered, sunny location, clay pot. But I noticed today that two of the big bloom stalks are drooping. Transplant shock? Too wet?? It's in run of the mill potting soil.

Any help appreciated!

Hi sansman, It sounds like transplant shock to me. Usually when moving or dividing plants that are in full growth it helps to cut back some of the foliage. If you give your liatris some shade and make sure to keep it well watered it will probably perk back up after a couple of cool nights.

Thank you for the advice!
