Can't open some files

I am having problems opening some files. I tried to open a pdf file of the plans for the greenhouse that was put in extra's and it said could not open. I think it has something to do with where it tries to open. I have a scanner and it seems everthing tries to open in the scanner Ulead program. Don't know why. It does not give me a choice where I want it to open. Any one have any ideas why I am having this problem. It is probably the operator. LOL
