In bloom in the conservatory

St. John's, NL(Zone 5b)

This is a pic of my Clematis X cartmanii 'Joe', a hybrid between two evergreen New Zealand clematis species. It is not at all hardy in my area so I grow it as a houseplant on a trellis.

That is so different, Todd. I would never have know that it was a clematis if you hadn't told us.

Isn't that pretty! How often and long does it bloom as a houseplant? Do you know what zones it is hardy to?

Stockton, CA(Zone 9a)

I am so jealous! Mine has not even set a bud yet! LOL
I am waiting with great anticipation, I can tell you. Very pretty. Thanks for posting this beauty.

Mesilla Park, NM

oh boy, that is so pretty.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

It is beautiful.

St. John's, NL(Zone 5b)

It blooms for about 4-6 weeks. It is not really a climber but can be trained on a trellis. Otherwise, it can be clipped to grow more as a shrub. It can be kept under 3 feet. I think it is only hardy to zone 9. The New Zealand species are dioecious, so Joe is a male (ie it never sets seed)

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Gorgeous! It is completely covered in blooms!

What type of fertilizer do you use?

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Very pretty.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8a)

gotta get me one of those! E
