I desperately need some serious advice!!! I have a 5' x 9' EMPTY section - bordered by house, and two (2) 6' masonry wall. It only gets morning sun. This section is on the eastern side of house facing west. Since it sits back a few front door, I do not want any shrub/tree that attracts bees or birds. The shrub/tree will be planted in a 20" x 20" pot. THANK YOU!

I am unfamiliar with your weather as it is hot and Humid here, but would suggest you call the county extension office. A lot of times you can get a lot of specific info there + the Master Gardeners program might have someone who knows a lot and can help you out. The local MGs would also be able to give you some imput as to which are the best nurseries (just in their opinion, of course).
Have you been to the Cactus garden located at the Ethyl M Chocolate factory. The last time I was there we went to see those gardens and and not all the garden is prickly..
